Bajirao Mastani 2015 Full Movie Review: Bajirao Mastani is a historical epic depicting the love story between the infamous Maratha warrior/prime-minister, Bajirao, and his warrior princess wife, Mastani. Bajirao, known for winning every battle he fought, not only lost his heart to Mastani, the half-Muslim illegitimate daughter of a Rajput King and his supposedly Persian mistress, but respect from his family and government! Now Bajirao has two battles on the battlefront-the battle to defeat the Mughals and rule India, and the battle against his very own for his beloved yet controversial wife, Mastani! The screenplay is clear and concise, depicting his rise to Peshwa till his death! 

Yet there were some issues with the screenplay that prevented this epic from being impeccable! Firstly, the love story between Bajirao and Mastani seemed force! Mastani and Bajirao met on the battlefield and we're made to believe they're in love! There's no gesture from Bajirao himself that proves he's madly in love with Her. Conversely, I got the impression that he was restraining himself from her advanced! Mastani tries to convey her love to Bajirao through her filmy dialogues and eyes, and that's really about it! I wish Bhansali spent more time developing an authentic love story between the two lovebirds like he did for Paro and Devdas! 

Towards the end of the film, I wasn't emotionally with their story, and that was the underlying core of the film! There were some issues with the climax due to the immense darkness in tone and the obvious CGI! Although the screenplay a little underwhelming, the performances, Production Design, and music prevented this movie from being a disappointment! Ranveer clearly immersed himself into the soul of Bajirao, from his mannerism to his physicality, yet he overreacted in some parts! Deepika was okay, but not great! Her love for Bajirao left me unconvinced and that's mostly due to her one-dimensional character! I wish Aishwarya Rai played the part instead! 

She played Paro so effortlessly and would have done the same to Mastani with her natural expressions and gestures! Although this film is called Bajirao Mastani, the real show stealer is Kashi Bhai, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra! Her role wasn't as meaty as the two leads, but impactful! Priyanka portrayed Kashibai with so much authenticity and soul that felt a great deal of sympathy for her character! The music was great, and the cinematography left me in awe!
