Piku 2015 Movie Review

Piku 2015 Movie Review: This movie is for all the 'only-child' all over the world, taking care of their old parents. I could relate to the film on so many levels. Starting from the execution to the climax of this movie, everything seemed well thought and established. Casting and characterization are commendable. What made the movie so different than others is its simplicity. With no earth-shattering twists and turns, it just reaches out to the heart of children and parents too! Superb movie. A simple story with some great characters and good humor. And not clichéd as is usually the case. Very good acting by the leads. A chilled out must watch a movie.

Piku takes a lot of time to become interesting, precisely only after the road journey begins. Once that has happened, this well-cast film has its moments of charm. This movie was just too annoying... Piku was so angry and everyone was always bickering...the iPhone that kept ringing throughout the entire movie was also really amazing. Simple, humorous, close-to-life, bittersweet story of an Indian Bengali Family settled in Delhi and their Journey to Calcutta. The Movie revolves around short-tempered Piku (Deepika), her eccentric Father Bhaskar Banerjee (AB), her often visiting Chhobi Mashi (Moushumi), & taxi owner Rana Chaudhary (I K). A must watch, that makes one laugh & weep at the same moment throughout!

Maybe the most heartwarming com-dram I've seen since the remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The story illustrates the mannerisms, beliefs, and general behavior of Bengalis to perfection. I found myself laughing often, and thought the story was extremely well told. Well worth watching! Really wonderful, heartfelt and authentic film, with excellent performances, tight writing, a whole lot of laughs and a few well-earned teary moments. The depth and evolution of the relationships between the main characters really got me. Make sure you can stomach all the toilet talk (pun intended); it's part of what makes this movie so real. And I could watch Deepika all day, every day, doing pretty much anything.

This movie manages to achieve that magical, perfect combination of humor and sentiment. The casting is flawless, and so are the performances. A real gem of a film, one of the year's best. Father-daughter relationship, a tense road trip, and a loving tribute to the city of Kolkata and the life lived by Indian Bangalis (with a tantalizing glimpse of the food!). Pleasant and meandering, just like life usually is expected to be! Strong character development and acting. Excellent chemistry between father and daughter; not so much between daughter and cab driver. Abrupt ending; failed to complete circle.

One of those better Hindi movies, Piku tries to take on the relationship issues between grown-ups and their parents. And it does manage to get quite a few things right. With great performances all across the board, Piku is surely a wholesome one time watch. A fairly unconventional Hindi movie, by normal "Bollywood standards", but still failed to be a well-rounded film. Too much of a focus on needless "toilet humor" and hit-or-miss one-liners, which the target audience may actually enjoy. The story seemed to have no aim, the character arcs never felt complete, and overall it was just decent.

A fantastic movie! A story that has the right mix of emotions - and motions! Amitabh Bachchan is superb in his performance as is Deepika Padukone and Irfaan. Even the supporting was spot-on adorable and funny. I loved it!!
