Movie Roundup: Hotel Transylvania 2 2015

Hotel Transylvania 2 actually surprised me. It was way better than the original. There were actually some funny jokes in this movie. In fact, it's overflowing with them which movie.holds this movie down. Since the movie has too many funny moments or moments where it tries to be funny, it kind of loses focus on the story and just focuses on jokes. Even though Hotel Transylvania 2 is funny, the jokes are kind of corny and they do fall a little flat.

Overall Hotel Transylvania is an improvement over the original but it still isn't a great kids movie. Despite a couple of entertaining scenes here and there, as well as good messages about acceptance and family, 'Hotel Transylvania 2' is still an insipid, predictable affair in nearly every aspect and seems like a completely pointless sequel to an already average animated feature. The colorful style and corny jokes will only please the youngest of viewers, everyone else need not apply. It's better paced and funnier than the first one, and you may find a more mature theme hidden somewhere, but Hotel Transylvania 2 has a much smaller story, limiting its audience to solely fans of the predecessor.

Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) - was surprisingly better than the first movie. I wasn't really sure what I was going expect going in but I found myself laughing out loud at almost every funny moment that the movie threw at me. Much like its predecessor, it has fast-paced animation, creative environments, and cool character designs but unfortunately, this movie also has the same flaws as the first movie. The pop culture references and product placements can be distracting sometimes and some of the characters antics are disturbing(Except for Dennis he's freaking cute!) but I was surprised to see how funny and even how cute this movie turned out. If you're in the mood for spooky fun and you're a fan of the first movie then I would totally recommend it but if you do not fan then.......well I guess you'll just have to see for yourself (B)

First out let me start by saying this movie was okay. I'm 33 years old so it's not really for my age group, but I took my 9-year-old and 6 years old. I wasn't expecting it to be great, but it was plain out boring. I've gone with my kids to see plenty of kids movies and they were all somewhat decent. Kids who would be interested in these movies aren't able to take themselves and the movies are boring the parents to death. The only reason I gave a full star was that my kids liked it

Hotel Transylvania 2 is just as entertaining as its predecessor, with amazingly drawn animation, charming voice acting from Adam Sandler and company and tons of humor to laugh at. It doesn't boast the most original of stories but I thought this film was a pretty fun film which, like the first film, marks an improvement over Adam Sandler's live-action movies (though, to be fair, I never really showed any disdain towards most of them).

The movie never quite felt like it went anywhere and most characters ended up as they were when they started. It was also disappointing to see Jonathan getting less screen time, as I thought he was one of the highlights of the first movie. Overall, the movie plays out like a watered down add-on to the first movie, like a short that was stretched to feature length. To its credit, it had some awesome gags that made me laugh out loud - the type that made me so fond of the first movie.

I always fear for sequels of good animation movies, since they always have an all too obvious lesson that they keep repeating over and over, the jokes weren't that bad (but believe me when I say that they won't age very well in a couple of years) but being constantly reminded by EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in this movie that "we are all perfect and we have to accept each other" is very tiring(It is not subtle AT ALL!). It definitely would have been better as a short film but whatever at least it can keep my 5-year-old niece from making noise (or at least for a while until he gets bored of it ).

More for children than the original has too many slapstick gags for me to really have any interest in this and the heavyhanded message of "alright as who you are" is rather simplistic even for kids. I suppose the jokes will impress them enough but for adults, it won't be enough to distract from the mediocre story.
Not sure why this was getting so many bad reviews from critics. This is probably one of Adam Sandler's best films in recent years, but then judging on his latest output that's not too hard to do. Very enjoyable animated comedy. Mainly for kids but there was a lot of visual gags and jokes that worked very well and made me chuckle a lot. The first dealt with Dracula's inability to let his daughter grow up and become an adult, this one deals with his inability to let his grandson be a human and wants to unleash his inner monster. This feels a little one note and repetitive but it is funny and does make for some funny scenes. Very good and as a 3rd film is expected for 2018 looks like it could be a decent trilogy.

I'm honestly not sure how people think this is even the slightest bit better than the first. There's no story, it's messy, nothing's funny, and the movie can't even be "so bad it's funny" very many times. And when it is, it doesn't last long. There's less of Andy Samberg's character which isn't good, and more of Dracula and his friends aka Sandler and his friends. If I wanted to see that, I'd just watch Grown Ups, which is also bad but way funnier. This is an outrageous disappointment, that only the least demanding kids will enjoy.

Hotel Transylvania 2 "continues with the crazy adventures of Dracula and his family, adding more comedy, more cult references about monsters and a clearer message compared to its predecessor.
The story begins with the celebration of the wedding of Mavis (Selena Gomez) and Johnny (Andy Samberg) where the union of young people leads to a new era of union between humans and monsters in the hotel. Time after Dracula (Adam Sandler) receives the news that he will become a grandfather, and accompanied by much happiness comes the wish that his grandson is a vampire like his daughter and him. The characters are just as charismatic, each with its tune and personality. The animation is brilliant and fast which allows the comedy to be very fluid. Only loses a little the character of Johnny who loses his leading role to Dennis, the baby.

The message is about integration, but they teach it by making humor about the transgression, causing it to be overlooked or misinterpreted. "Hotel Transylvania 2" is a bit better than the previous one maintaining the family tone and improving the interaction of the great cast of characters.
