Review of The Mummy 2017 Full Movie

Review of The Mummy 2017 Full Movie: One Mediocre Star For The Special FX...How Do They Manage To Keep Tom (Now 54) Still Looking Not A Day Over 30?? Amazing Stuff. So It All Comes Down To Russell Crowe's Line To Supposedly Dead Cruise "Welcome To The World Of God's & Monsters"...Which, I Gather Is The New 'Dark Universe' Competition To All The Other Comic-Book'esk Franchises. Problem Is, Faaaar Too Much Time Is Spent Exploring The Birth, Reason To This World Via Boring Character Monologues, Although Surprisingly Rus-Crowe Kinda Stole The Show.

The Booming Action & CGI Keeps You Awake, Alongside Dawn-Of-The-Dead/Walking-Dead Style Action-Chase Sequences..But It Is Not Nearly Enough To Keep You From Seeing Things For Really What It Is..A Franchise Cash-Grab. Clearly Competing With The 'Marvel Universe' In This Alternate Reality..Based On Characters That Have No Associated Trademarks Which Universal Can Gobble Up & Package For Free. Not A Good Start Here At All..Really Should Have Tried To Cameo Brendan Fraser & Re-cast All Leads As Some Fresh Faces, Then Done It In The 'Indiana Jones' Style Of The Original Series..Rather Than All Dark & Emo.

Tom Cruise doesn't make a lot of duds so when he does it is worth taking notice. The Mummy reboot falls short of the Brendan Fraser original in every imaginable way and that film wasn't anything special, to begin with. It lacks the campy nature and takes itself way too seriously. This isn't the start the Dark Universe was looking for. (Run as far from this quicksand as you can)

I believe that this movie was a let down to the franchise. I believe that they should have left the series as it was. It is very hard to top Brendan Fraser, and I think Tom Hanks did not suit the role. The storyline was twisted and to serious. It was missing the humor and charm from every other Mummy movie. Also, did anyone else notice that they are trying to make it into a 'Dark universe'?? I'm very disappointed that they are trying to make such an amazing and fun franchise into a 'hero' series.

I loved the fact that they created a really thin line between good and bad, or no line at all. Plus the moral of the story is not clear as day, so you have to think a little about it, which makes it more intriguing. The characters aren't all great. Tom Cruise's talent is totally wasted on this character in my opinion. He could have been so much more charismatic and entertaining if the writing would have let him to. So overall it's an average movie and somewhat enjoyable 90% of the time. And it's not to cliche so that's good too.
