Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story 2018 Full Movie

Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story 2018 Full Movie: As a loyal Star Wars fan after watching The Last Jedi, I felt completely betrayed. I have no desire to ever see another Disney version of Star Wars again. No offense intended for Ron Howard, who is typically awesome but the political commentary, social justice focus, gags and poorly timed jokes ruined the entire Star Wars experience. As long as Kathleen Kennedy is behind Star Wars, I don't see anything changing. And Alden Ehrenreich will never even come close to Harrison Ford. I seriously doubt they learned their lesson from TLJ as this was already shot, so I'll expect this movie to be full of postmodern left-wing narrative spewed into our faces. I just do not understand how Left-wing people can not just make a movie without filling it with propaganda, people go to the movies to escape that crap.

But now nowhere is safe from horrible views. I half expect the plot of this movie to rotate around a world where capitalism has been shown as a failure & Socialism is lauded over & everyone lives in harmony in this Utopia. Here's my prediction: The titular hero now identifies as Hannah Solo, a strong female protagonist. She meets Chewbacca during an epic space battle against income inequality. They decide to protest the Emperor's unethical spice mining operation because it endangers a flying unicorn habitat. Along the way they discover the Empire's new sun-sized superweapon called DeathBaserKillStar. Obi-Wan Kenobi makes a cameo as sleazy Jedi televangelist in which he looks directly into the camera, sticks up a middle finger, and says "I got your nostalgia right here." Chewbacca gives his fur a purple dye job for no reason. 16 plot holes and zero character development later, Lando shows up doing pratfalls and cracking fart jokes. Then nothing really happens for about 45 minutes. Then DeathBaserKillStar explodes because Hannah used the force on it.

Just saw it, and it is awesome. It is the story that was aching to be told from the beginning. Action packed, funny, and well written and directed. Everything you want from the Star Wars genre. A home run. If you are at all interested in the Star Wars Universe it is a must see.

I liked this ... not a lot ... but I liked this. It's nice that it's a Star Wars film that is not centered on the Empire and the Rebellion, and it's light, unchallenging fun. It has quite a few faults. It looks awful ... dark, gray, murky and downright ugly. The revolutionary droid characters feel like she comes from an entirely different movie. I find a lot of the silly tie-ins to "Star Wars" and the visual references to the rest of the series to be tiresome, but I guess they are to be expected. I enjoyed this.

Well, it was a film. Not a great one but passable. Thought it is bad. My Disappointment was disappointed. It was great. Probably my favorite from the new movies After Force Awakens. I enjoyed the movie. Took a bit to get into the movie and get used to seeing someone else playing Han Solo. It was a fun heist movie showing how the Empire controlled everything and the beginning of the Rebellion.

Everything that needed to work didn't. Alden Ehrenreich was actually charming and likable, BUT he felt like a completely different character unrelated to Han and the same goes for Donald Glover as Lando. At random times, Glover would also do a weird, half-assed impression. Emilia Clarke's character was pointless and the droid was irritating and even more pointless. Nothing about it seemed like it was in the Star Wars universe other than some spoken words and Chewie as a reminder. The biggest thing is the plot blows and there's really just no heart to this movie whatsoever. Oh, and the end makes it look like there's gonna be a sequel...

This plot has been done so many times before! The whole film feels like a cash grab on loyal fans. Not as bad as The Last Jedi, that was almost an insult to audience intelligence with its terrible writing, but another example of style over substance.

The actors do a good job and Ron Howard is a great director, but they cant save this forgettable film. Alden Ehrenreich doesn't look enough like Harrison Ford but he's not as off-putting as the cringe-worthy ideas to link into the nostalgia that all fall flat. Thought it was fun and uncomplicated. Expected more from a Star Wars movie. This movie was more true to the originals than any of the other recent films. It was a tight plot line, fun, and full of character. It had the best undertone of rebellion that holds true to the inspiration we feel in the originals. Despite other reviews, this is a must-see. The movie ended and I let out a big sigh of relief "phewww.... thought that was going to be garbage like The Last Jedi." I enjoyed the movie. Don't go in thinking this will blow your mind, just sit back and enjoy the show. Enjoyable plot. Good characters. Acting could have been better. Overall an enjoyable movie worth seeing.

I can't say they didn't try, they have the appropriate cards in their hands. Just the execution is lackluster, and Han Solo is a bit too goofy in this film. I don't mind there being comedy in a can solo movie, but it gets to the point where Han himself felt more like star-lord from "Guardians of The Galaxy" series than how an early-mid 20s than solo would be.

A well-done movie with a weak third act. My issue is about the casting: not only Alden Ehrenreich doesn't look like Han Solo, but he also fails in delivering a portrait that matches with the Han we all known. Is it due to the acting or the script? I don't know, but I also can't help but think that this movie could have been worse.

This was a solid Star Wars movie. I was one of those who disliked The Last Jedi, but I thought Solo was a step back in the right direction. The humor has been turned down a notch (although at times is still too corny). And there is more connective tissue to the rest of the Star Wars universe. I suggest all the haters go out and actually see the movie and then write some fair reviews!
