Review of Hitman: Agent 47 Full Movie: This movie is for fans of the game; an understandably if you don't know the game the movie will seem terrible outside of the game's frame of mind. However, if you are a fan of the game, this movie is a satisfying "movie" within the same universe.

The game itself is strongly story driven to paint the scene of each "mission"; while within the game the player is required to exercise patience and situational awareness. The gameplay is about tactical improvisation to survive while accomplishing your mission, and what makes the game so appealing. The movie pays countless homage to the same emotions and mood while respecting that it is a completely different medium (movie). I found myself enjoying all the game elements turned movie; experiencing similar emotional responses to the game itself. This movie could be one of the best translations of a game to the movie so far.

Unfortunately for the non-gamer viewer, I can see how they may have a hard time liking the character agent 47 himself, and maybe even the female protagonist. Both characters have an emotional shell that is hard to penetrate, yet at the same time, this is exactly what is consistent with the Hitman universe. Perhaps the gamer benefits from the longer story history from the game; particularly from the concept of the "engineered children science" trope.
The "twist" at the first third of the movie is a new departure unique to the movie, and I welcomed it. Each interpretation of the characters that carry over from the game is consistent enough with the game to maintain continuity, yet diverge enough from the game to be appreciated as a stand-alone movie. It was both new and comforting at the same time; a balance that I was pleased with.

This is an action movie, and I really appreciated the thoughtful action scenes as they were very consistent with the character performing them. The action was visually impressive and conveyed the "super agent" that 47 is. This is NOT a Marvel movie and I'm thankful it isn't. The action is closer to the Borne series.
I would love to see more game-to-movie efforts go more in the direction this movie does; but unfortunately, the general appeal isn't there without some shift if the frame of expectations. If you're a Hitman 47 fan, go see this movie.
While not as entertaining as the first film and the character of the Hitman was not as intriguing, charismatic or endearing, this movie does work on a level where the video game is more the backdrop then the original was. The story of the program being possibly restarted and watching an agent attempt to thwart that from happening does work even though it gets watered down with the action sequences being subpar and the actors phoning it in for many of the scenes. This film could have worked better if the main actors were redeemable as characters instead of just being one dimensional and pretty bland. Now, this is more in tune with the video game and that is why the film suffers. Obviously, the writer and director either played the games or watched somebody play the games before putting this together. For its faults, this film does show brutality and ruthlessness in a way the first movie did not. Whoever makes blood packets made a mint on this movie. Going forward, this franchise can continue with new players in the game and new actors in the various roles. Olyphant killed the role, while Friend simply died.
There seems to have been a great opportunity here to do something very Bourne-esque with the premise, but alas, it's just another average Hollywood action movie where everything is very silly, totally unbelievable and lacking depth. Still, if you just want to watch something with some action, then this is as good of a time-killer as anything else, maybe even more so if you're a fan of the video games that it's based on, although I suppose that would depend on just how faithful they've been to the source material.
A very underrated Hitman reboot, Very harsh critic reviews led me to think this was going to be terrible but I really enjoyed it, It's action-packed from the word go and most of it is pretty good, The effects were not the best and the plot was ok just a bit silly, I didn't agree on Agent 47 cast choice but he grew on me, It's loyal to the games and is one of the better game to movies around, Ignore the critics and give it a go.
hmmm not great tbh. I'm not much of a gamer so I haven't played the game so can't look at it from that perspective. The script was pretty bad at times and Zachary seemed quite awkward and out of place at times. The girl was REALLY annoying but she was nice to look at. I love Rupert Friend in Homeland which I admit made me want to watch this and he was the best thing about the film. Some fights were decent although the CGI looked really dodgy at times. Awkwardly sets itself up for a sequel but I can't see it happening... doubt I'd watch again. I admit it got a 6 instead of a 5 out of 10 because I liked looking at the cast :p
