Review of The Mermaid 2016 Full Movie: The Mermaid is directed and co-written by Stephen Chow, and it stars Deng Chao and Lin Yun in a fantasy romantic comedy about a businessman who comes across as a huge fan of him, and they start to form a bond that turns into a relationship, but little did he know, she's actually a mermaid and a group of mermaids that she was with want him dead. I've been hearing about how this is actually the highest-grossing film in China, and that I was looking forward to it only for the fact that it's Stephen Chow, so there's going to be something weird, but in a very entertaining way, which this is no exceptions as The Mermaid is just as great as the other films that he's well known from.

The acting is great, which I forgot that this is actually Lin Yun's first film which seems like she has done this before, even though there were some facts about her acting experience which she didn't have much of before this. The story got me interested, which is surprising for the fact that 8 writers were involved with this film, and it managed to keep itself consistent with the humor and the adorable chemistry between Xuan and Shan.
There are not many fight scenes that you usually see in his other films like Kung Fu Hustle and Journey to the West, but when it does go to it, it's a lot of fun to watch and has some great visuals. The score by Raymond Wong made the film more epic at times with its cool music to listen to. The Mermaid is a very weird film that really worked for me, and it's different from what I usually see in Stephen Chow's other films, but still feel like his film with lots of heart and hilarious humor.
A major comeback for Disney Animation which everyone remembers most about Walt's legacy! The songs, the characters, the animation! And yeah, a few things like the explicit reference on the undersea castle, the wedding scene, and.....that's about it! But you know what? It's still wonderful, and I enjoy it to this day!
Part of the Disney return to form trio along with 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'the Lion King' although this is probably the least effective of the three. It's enjoyable enough and Ursula is a genuinely scary bad-guy character but I found my own interest waning at points. Felix enjoyed it but in a slightly forgettable, he'll probably never mention this again way.
The mermaid is obviously a classic. Every little girl at some point in their life wants nothing more than to be Ariel or even just a mermaid at all for that matter. This always has been and always will be one of my favorite movies. I can not think of one single negative thing about this movie. This movie had beautiful animation and amazing details, the voices behind the characters are done amazingly not to mention the storyline. This is an amazing movie.
So Disney was continuing making one of his greatest gems like he did with the first Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book. That's one of Walt Disney's greatest works. The audiences love his magical gems and magic come to life. Magical stories and animation the whole family to enjoy again and again.
This is one of Disney's continued works and the reason I said that is because Walt wanted to feature-length films that can grow audiences big, I mean really big! He wanted to make the songs so memorable and so catchy and Alan Menken is the one who made the songs so beautiful, compelling and catchy and it really makes the animation so amazing. The songs Part of your World, Under the Sea and the one that got me excited and gripped is Poor Unfortunate Souls. Ohh, and also the French song which really makes me laugh just like other songs from Disney classics.
The characters, however, are memorable, the Disney princesses again continued, they'll be continued after I finish The Mermaid. The villain is so brilliant, Ursula has the power of Ariel and these people who she called them like I mentioned before Poor unfortunate souls. Jodi Benson is the main voice of the Disney Princess Ariel. She wanted to be in the human world but her father forbids her to go out there alone because it's dangerous but found a true love of her life called Eric. Flounder and Sebastian are the side characters with Ariel. The chef is hilarious and Sebastian is scared of him cause he cooks fish and crabs and Sebastian escapes from the chef before he cooks him. Now that's slapstick. The animation continued to be brilliant and fresh just like all animation is.
That's all I gotta say about it. I think my remembered Liam and Jacob quoting from it so that's why I did the next Disney animated feature. Enjoy! The Mermaid used to be my all-time favorite Disney film in my childhood! Even though my opinion has changed on which Disney film is my all-time favorite, I still love this film to this day!
Following a 3 week trip to Disney (staying in the mermaid rooms), it was time to watch this classic Disney film as I had a really poor recollection of it. My memories as a child of this film were that it was longer and I think this is true of most Disney films. The main songs are all catchy and maybe just suffer from the amount they have been played since the films initial release. I thought that this film fits nicely within Disney's set of princess movies with both main leads falling in love at first sight. This tends to not happen so much any longer with characters requiring more time and a series of events to occur before they fall in love. For this reason, I did find it a bit basic and didn't really a relationship developed between the characters. Flounder also had significantly less to do with the story than I remember with Sebastian being the main comic sidekick. All in all I the film kept my attention and I enjoyed the main musical numbers.
