Review of Chappie 2015 Full Movie

Review of Chappie 2015 Full Movie HD version. Chappie is a funny, violent, heart wrenching, captivating movie. The guy who brought us District 9, this was a phenomenal movie, I can't wait for his next flick. Chappie is a police droid created to control the violence in South Africa. The movie stars Dev Patel as the maker of a self-conscious droid and the anticipator Hugh Jackman who wants to run his droid program but decides to destroy the current efficient version of the droids. Great cast, good script, wonderful smart movie. I would watch this movie over and over again.

Absolutely terrible! "Ninja" looks like a child trying to read lines like a big boy but can't quite manage to read and act at the same time. They spend the whole movie scared of a guy who on his best day could get tossed by a group of kids. They shoot by holding guns over their heads and somehow take down a police attack helicopter that has just raided a compound with no issue.... by standing on top of a car in the open and just spraying with his head down. The robot chappie is a freaking joke and the so-called inventor is an insult to people who actually work in the tech field. They pretend the robot is a child and Yolanda says he needs treated kindly and nurtured as an artist, at the same time they want him to pull off a bloody heist so they can pay back the previously mentioned menace. If the robot could pull off a heist and giant battle why couldn't he just kill the guy??? The robot also whines and cries about being scared of everything. This movie single-handedly sabotaged south Africa's chance of being anything but district 9 in the world's eyes. I liked Die Antwoord before I watched this movie and now I just hope they run out of jet fuel over the Himalayas.

The art style of this film is very unique. Initially coming off as "over the top" but you can slowly ease into the director's vision for the film. I had difficulties understanding Zef cultural, which took me out of my comfort zone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because exposing an extreme version of cultures and places make concepts such as robotic police and complete sentient AI more believable. This movie places you in a position where you suspend disbelieve long enough to appreciate morals & values the movie is trying to high light. As a character "Chappie" becomes incredibly valued, he symbolizes humanity. By embarking on his journey and watching him develop you grow a fondness for him. Perhaps even genuine feelings. Sympathising with struggles he is presented. Ostracised for differences and blinded to similarities. This film often blurs the line between what people consider humanity; and if humanity is only designed to be human. It utilizes technology effectively to convey this message. This film will toy with your emotion and leave you questioning what it really means to be human. I enjoyed it very much, I don't believe it should be treated so badly.

Full of promise and this marks another downward notch for the once promising director Blomkamp. The has a lot of potentials but the ending is rather silly and takes away the point of the storyline. The final confrontation is where Blomkamp shines, he has a very gritty eye for action and is one of the best action filmmakers around. I wanted to love this film but I can't salvage the film when it is this over the top and crazy. Chappie was a great character but the usual choice of location wasn't ideal, this film felt bigger but was limited by the location of the film. The Hugh Jackman character was an odd choice and didn't seem to warrant a lot of action, the flawed creation of his was super obvious to everyone but the characters are dialed up to 11. I thought this might be a clever and out there film that could develop a following over time but this is hard to enjoy. 24/02/2018.

Too many critics seem to judge this film based on fatigue from the director's previous efforts. That's unfortunate because while District 9 was interesting, and Elysium was okay, CHAPPIE is the best of the three. A friend said it's like Short Circuit meets Robocop. I cared more for the robot than any of the human's characters in all the previous films.

It took me a few years to finally watch Chappie due to my preconceived notion of it being a Robocop ripoff and all the negative reviews, but I loved it! Apparently, it helps to already be a Die Antwoord fan, but they are also quality actors and the film has substance with the awesome style. The most profound moment is when Chappie asks: "You're my maker. Why did you just make me so I could die?" Those who believe in a supreme being would do well to ask that of their alleged creator. There's also plenty o' humor, such as when Chappie's watching He-Man or giving Yolanda Barbie a haircut.
